Our Environmental Policy

Caring for the environment is a core part of how we work at Metalworks Wanaka. From the materials we choose to the way we operate day to day, we’re committed to reducing waste, sourcing responsibly, and making thoughtful decisions that support people and the planet.

Wherever possible, we recycle, reuse, or repurpose materials throughout both our manufacturing processes and administrative work. We prioritise biodegradable and earth-friendly products, including using beeswax or Penetrol in our steel finishing instead of harsher chemicals, and selecting environmentally responsible packaging for shipping.

We actively source materials from local and regional recycling centres when available, supporting circular use of resources and reducing unnecessary transport. Buying locally is important to us, and we choose local suppliers wherever we can.

Our workshop is powered by Ecotricity, a renewable energy provider, and we use an electric vehicle to meet as many of our business needs as possible. We also aim to operate paper-free wherever we can, choosing digital systems and transactions over printed materials.

Through our products, we also seek to encourage reuse and waste reduction, from long-lasting, high-quality metalwork to items such as stainless steel straws and solar-powered options.

We know sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we’re committed to continuing to learn, improve, and make better choices as we go. If you’re aware of any materials, products, or processes that you feel would align with Metalworks Wanaka, we’d love to hear your ideas. Contact us at office@metalworkswanaka.co.nz.
