Every Desktop Updraft Kārearea is individually handcrafted by our skilled metal artisans. The body of each bird is carefully formed by hand, and the counterweight is precisely matched to achieve perfect balance. As a result, every sculpture is a unique work of art, celebrating the beauty, character, and spirit of the New Zealand Kārearea.

The Desktop Updraft Kārearea was inspired by New Zealand’s remarkable falcon and created as part of our falcon sculpture collection in support of the Kārearea Falcon Trust. This collection celebrates one of Aotearoa’s most iconic birds of prey and marks the Kārearea being named Bird of the Year 2026.
Each Desktop Updraft Kārearea is handcrafted from corten steel and balanced with a mild steel counterweight to create its signature movement. The Desktop range can be customised with wingspans of up to 500mm. If you’re looking for a larger statement piece, our original Updraft sculptures are available with wingspans of up to 3 metres, making them ideal for gardens and other outdoor spaces. We also welcome custom commissions and can tailor finishes, sizes, and designs to suit your vision.
